Founder of Classic Girl Clothing with her daughter

They grow up so fast :(

I’m writing this the night before my daughter starts third grade and it also happens to be my 19th wedding anniversary. The starting of another school year – it’s bittersweet. We had a great summer and I’m going to miss spending my days with my daughter. But, at the same time, I know my body and my business will benefit from going back to a scheduled routine.

While the passing of time brings a feeling of accomplishment, it is overshadowed with feelings that my daughters earlier years of childhood are behind us. My baby is growing up! No matter how proud I am of her, I’m sad she’s getting older.

Just yesterday, my daughter, informed me she will be picking out her own clothes this year. I want to share what my classic girl chose to wear on the first day of school:  first choice - a beautiful long blue dress, not appropriate for school; second choice - a soft yellow sleeveless tea length vintage dress, a very summery dress, and it’s 63 degrees in San Francisco. But, what she actually wore was a compromise, a light yellow smocked corduroy short sleeve tea-length dress. And of course, we also had to compromise on shoes. My daughter wanted to wear her new glittery silver Pirmigi’s (our favorite shoe brand), great for going to dance class on weekends, but not for school. I talked her into trying to fly under the radar, at least on the first day of school, with an adorable pair of silver Venettini Mary Jane’s, so cute with knee-high white socks. Even though we ended up creating her first day at school outfit together, my little classic girl knows what she wants and has a definite classic girl style all her own.

Cheers,
